As dancers, our number one objective is to minister God’s Word to His people. We must use our whole being to bring praise and worship to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Through the dance, we shall usher the presence of God into the House.
The Darryl M. Gross Memorial Dance Ministry is named in memory of Darryl M. Gross, a devout music and dance lover and a long-time member of SMPC’s music ministry. One of Darryl’s “personal crusades” was to have a dance ministry at SMPC. Darryl’s dream of forming a dance ministry at SMPC was also a dream of Ms. Gloria Dixon. Gloria spoke to Darryl’s wife Marilyn about the idea and learned that Darryl had this vision for SMPC for many years. With Marilyn’s guidance, Gloria was able to present the idea to Session and it was approved to start such a ministry in the spring of 2004. Before his passing in early 2004, he knew that his dream was finally on its way to becoming a reality.
We expect our ministry to continue to grow in Spirit and in Truth! 2022 marked our 18th year in ministry! Our goals for 2022 include more outreach in our community and attending local dance conferences in order to learn more of what God has in store for His dancers and worshipers.
We pray for those who desire to minister with us and that more of our Sargent family will join us to bring the sight of the Word of God to our Sargent family, the community and abroad.
