Sargent Male Chorus

Welcome to your Business

In early 2009, Reginald Fortune presented the idea of starting a men’s choir to Reverend Juan P. Guthrie. Shortly thereafter, Rev. Guthrie approved Mr. Fortune’s request to establish The Sargent Male Chorus (SMC).

Once approved, the SMC met to establish positions and elect officers. Four invaluable Elders truly assisted in this process, and more importantly, ensured that the establishment of the SMC would be executed in a way that is decent and in order. The SMC would like to thank the late Erman Clay, Robert Tucker, Paul Washington, Sr. and the late Truman Smith for their assistance and guidance.

Over the years, the men of Sargent have come together to sing during worship service on Men’s Day on the third Sunday in June.

The SMC are included in the worship service at Sargent on the fourth Sundays.

In addition, the SMC has performed at singing events in the Washington, D.C. area.
