We are so glad that you’ve taken a moment to visit the Sargent Memorial Presbyterian Church website. Here, we practice Radical Hospitality, which means we strive to welcome and embrace all people as Christ has welcomed us—without reservation, with open arms, and with a heart full of grace. Our mission is to bring people closer to Christ, and we believe that by following the will and way of the Lord, we can make a true difference in our lives, our community, and in the
world.
As we embark on this journey together, we are engaging in the Genesis Project, a theme inspired by the opening words of Scripture: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Just as God created a beautiful world and breathed life into it, we believe that God is able to create New Beginnings, New Chapters, and New Opportunities in the life of our church, in the neighborhood of Deanwood, and beyond.
At Sargent Memorial Presbyterian Church, we offer a variety of ways to grow in faith. Our Sermon Series, Bible Studies, and engaging events and activities provide opportunities for spiritual growth, fellowship, and service. We believe that God has a unique plan for each of us, and we invite you to join us as we seek to discover and live out that plan.
Whether you are new to the area, new to church, or simply seeking a place to grow closer to Christ, we invite you to join us on Sunday mornings for worship. Feel free to bring a family member or close friend, as we gather together to worship, learn, and experience the love of God in community.
We look forward to meeting you and walking with you on this exciting journey of faith!
Yours in Christ,
Reverend Brian Keith McCollum, M.Div., M.S.
During Lent and Easter, this series celebrates the relentless love of God that finds us even when we’ve wandered far. Through the parables of the lost sheep, coin, and son, Jesus reveals a God who seeks, saves, and restores. The message is both personal and communal… no one is too far gone, and no community is beyond redemption. These supporting scriptures echo the Good Shepherd’s pursuit and the resurrection’s promise that death itself cannot separate us from divine love.
The image of the father running toward his returning son is one of the most beautiful pictures of God’s grace. Before the son can finish his apology, before he can prove himself worthy, the father embraces him. Click here for more!
What began as a February celebration has become a continuing commitment. Every second Sunday, we pause during worship to honor powerful, often overlooked figures whose lives reflect faith, courage, and the ongoing work of liberation. This season, we highlight William Still—often called the “Father of the Underground Railroad.” Through courage and conviction, he helped guide hundreds of enslaved people to freedom and documented their stories, reuniting families that slavery tried to tear apart. His life reflects the heart of Luke 15: the Shepherd still seeks the lost. In a time when Black people were denied the right to freedom, to family, and even to their own names, William Still chose to seek, to serve, and to restore. His work reminds us that no one is forgotten in God’s sight. Discover how faith and freedom come together in the power of being found. 👉🏾 Click here for more information!
