Celebrating Black History

Remembering the Struggle. Honoring the Strength. Proclaiming the Promise.

Where Black History Meets Living Faith.

During the month of February, our church began observing Black History Moments each Sunday as part of our worship experience. What began as a month-long emphasis has now become a continued commitment. Moving forward, we will share a Black History Moment every second Sunday as an intentional act of remembrance, education, and spiritual reflection.

These moments highlight lesser-known Black historical figures whose lives reflect perseverance, faith, resistance, joy, and hope. From those who endured the denial of basic human rights—the right to read, to gather, to own property—to those who thrived during Black Reconstruction, resisted the terror of lynching and the Ku Klux Klan, and paved the way toward milestones like the election of the first Black President, Barack Obama, these stories remind us that our history is sacred testimony.

We also remember that Black history did not begin with enslavement. Our roots stretch back to the rich civilizations of Africa—kingdoms of learning, leadership, innovation, and spiritual depth. Slavery was an interruption, not an origin.

Each Black History Moment connects our faith with the lived experiences of Black people across generations. These reflections remind us that suffering has never been the final word over our community. As Scripture affirms, what is temporary cannot override God’s eternal promises.

By continuing these moments every second Sunday, we affirm that Black history is not seasonal—it is foundational. It shapes our worship, deepens our gratitude, and strengthens our call to justice.

We invite you to lean in, listen, learn, and be transformed.

Meet those who came before us, and those who walk beside us.

Learning Our Legacy. Living Our Liberation.
