Baptisms

"There is one body and one Spirit - just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call - one Lord, one faith, one baptism," - Ephesians 4:4-5 (ESV)

Baptisms at Sargent

Baptism is the act of initiation and incorporation into the universal church of Jesus Christ, the Presbyterian Church, and the local congregation, as the baptismal covenant makes clear. Because we believe that people of all ages are recipients of God's redeeming love, we encourage and support the baptism of infants and children, as well as youth and adults. The baptism of infants and children symbolizes that God accepts your child by faith while the parents and the church family commit themselves to teach children the foundations of the Christian faith by word and example. In youth and adult baptism, the person being baptized is professing publicly her or his own decision to accept Christ.
